Bio

Montreea was born in Monroe, Louisiana.  She began singing at age two and playing music at age ten. After graduating with honors from the High School for Performing & Visual Arts, she attended Berklee College of Music in Boston.  Montreea major in music business & audio engineering. In 2005, Montreea was named a Black Heritage Society Jr. Achiever.  received a 2006 Texas Lifetime Achievement Award. The Houston Chronicle named her Houston’s Ultimate Musical Multitasker in 2007. Montreea has toured extensively, sharing stages with Marvin Sapp, Fantasia, Percy Sledge, Brian Courtney Wilson, and many more.

Montreea won the 2010 Houston finals of the Most Powerful Voices contest. She was nominated for a My Gospel Soul Award a year later. She also won a 2011 Fresh Award. In 2012, Montreea was a semifinalist in the Unsigned Music Only competition. Within a year, she beat out 15,000 singers to land on BET’s Sunday Best. Montreea has most recently appeared in the 2018 film Here’s My Heart. In 2019, she celebrated releases on SubUrban Records (Europe), Soulful Legends (US), Check It Out Records (Europe) & House 4 Life Records (US).

Curve Magazine has dubbed Montreea an “underground musical genius.” She has appeared in many publications, including The New York Times, Computer Music Magazine, Blues & Soul Magazine, URB Magazine, David Atlanta, The Dallas Morning News, and Rolling Stone Magazine. Montreea is now an in-demand female songwriter heating up the industry with her vocals for hire. She concentrates her time at her studio, DOPE Recording Studio, and logs countless hours as a studio vocalist.
